MMP-9 ELISA: Matrix Metalloproteinase-9
For in vitro diagnosis of risk of heart failure by quantification of MMP-9 protein in human EDTA plasma
Matrix Metelloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) is part of the matrix metalloproteinase family presenting a group of structurally related zinc-containing proteolytic enzymes. These enzymes play an important role in tissue remodeling of extracellular matrix. MMP-9 is a 92 kDa protein with a sequence length of 707 amino acids that is produced by epithelial cells and is stored in the secretory granules of neutrophils and eosinophils. It has been shown to mediate vascular leakage and to initiate the migration of inflammatory cells inducing wound repair.

NGAL ELISA: Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin
For in vitro diagnosis of heart failure by quantification of NGAL protein in human EDTA plasma
NGAL, a protein belonging to lipocalin family, plays an important role in vascular remodelling and plaque instability of atherosclerosis1,2. NGAL is found to be upregulated in cardiomyocytes in failing myocardium3. Plasma NGAL is a significant predictor of mortality and cardiovascular disease in community-dwelling older adults, independent of traditional risk factors and kidney function, and adds incremental value to NT-proBNP and CRP4.
